Overview

Arizona is in the American southwest and is known for very hot weather on a consistent basis. Popular areas include the Grand Canyon, Humphreys Peak (state high point), Cochise Stronghold, and the lowlands where Phoenix is located. There are not many mountains offering great climbing here, but the slot canyons found in the north end of the state are some of the best in the world. Popular, but still spectacular is Antelope Canyon, which most people will probably recognize photos from there. Rock climbers will be commonly found at Cochise Stronghold, near Tucson.
