Grizzly Peak D - 13,427' - Class 2+
Mount Sniktau - 13,234' - Class 2
January 2010
This climb I did only two days after doing Bard and Parnassus. The great weather stretch lasted a few more days so Josh and I decided to get at it again! This time we drove to Loveland Pass where we parked all the way at 12,000 feet elevation. From the pass, the hike up to Cupid was very short and sweet but had some nice views. From here we continued on to Grizzly Peak D which had some good scramble areas but nothing that bad. We were planning to traverse to Torreys Peak but I wasn't yet comfortable with the snow traverses that were required. I didn't want to continue so we turned around and descended Grizzly Peak but on the way back we ran up Mount Sniktau just to get the unobstructed view across the I-70 valley north to Bard and Parnassus. It was a lovely day in the mountains, despite it being just a hike. Afterwards we drove Josh's Subaru up the Stevens Gulch Road for some fun sliding around. I can't believe we made it all the way up to the summer trailhead but we did and spent the rest of the afternoon lounging around in the warm winter sun in Stevens Gulch.
